This guide is for pilot installations and helps ensure that the system is installed correctly until the updated app is released for the full launch.
1. Install the app
Download the Confi.care app from the App Store or Google Play. The app is used to set up, manage, and monitor the Independent Living service.
For iPhone (iOS):
For Android:
2. Follow the installation instructions carefully
For the system to work properly, follow the in-app installation steps closely and complete all device setups before continuing.
3. Sensor placement
All motion sensors must be mounted in the ceiling to ensure optimal coverage and accurate activity detection. Ceiling placement allows each sensor to detect movement only within its own room and prevents false detections from adjacent areas.
If you have received six sensors, set one of them aside for now. You will receive further instructions on how to use it later in the pilot period.
Motion sensors should be installed in the following rooms:
- Living room
- Hallway
- Kitchen
- Bedroom
- Bathroom
The door sensor must be installed on the main entrance door used to enter and leave the home. The easiest way to scan the QR code during setup is directly from the box the sensor came in.
The smart plug should be connected to an electronic device such as a TV or coffee machine.
4. Check the service settings after installation
Once installation is complete, open the app to verify that all services are activated.
Tap the tile labelled “Active rules”, or tap “Services” at the bottom of the screen and then select “Independent Living”.
Under “Deactivation when resident leaves home”, make sure the function is enabled.
5. If any devices appear as offline
If any devices appear as unknown or offline after installation, deactivate the service and wait a couple of hours.
If the device still does not come online, visit the support articles for guidance on how to reset and reconnect your devices.

Important information regarding offline or missing sensors
If a sensor is offline, or if there are rooms where the resident spends extended periods of time without a sensor installed, this may result in false overtime alerts.
In such cases, the service must be temporarily deactivated until the issue has been resolved.
Example
The system registers movement in the hallway (which has an active sensor).
The resident then moves to another room where the sensor is offline or where no sensor is installed and remains there for three hours. If the overtime threshold for the hallway is set to less than three hours, an overtime alert will be triggered for the hallway, since it was the last recorded room.
This is not a real incident, but a consequence of a missing or offline sensor.
