The sensors in the Independent Living system are designed for long operation without maintenance.
Typical battery life is approximately:
2 years for motion sensors
7 years for door sensors (magnet contacts)
The battery in the motion sensors have a shorter lifetime because they are active throughout the day while monitoring movement. This continuous operation ensures reliable activity detection but uses more power than traditional alarm sensors, which are only active when armed.
When a battery becomes low, the system will send an automatic notification so it can be replaced.
