Understanding the modes and LED lights on smoke or heat sensor

Modified on Thu, 6 Nov at 2:58 PM

If the light on your smoke/heat sensor is flashing red, it is important to understand what each mode means and whether there is a problem with the device. Here's a breakdown of what the different flashing red lights indicate:

Searching for Gateway mode

If the red light on the back of the sensor is flashing every second for up to 15 minutes, it means the sensor is searching for the gateway to connect to the network. This is a normal process and should resolve once the sensor successfully connects to the gateway.

Normal mode

In normal mode, the LED light on the front of the sensor will flash every 45 seconds. This indicates that the sensor is functioning properly and is in standby mode.

Low battery mode

If the front LED flashes every 45 seconds and you hear beeps, it means the battery is low and needs to be replaced. It is important to replace the battery as soon as possible to ensure the sensor continues to function effectively.

Alarm mode

When smoke or heat is detected, the LED light will start flashing and the unit will emit a loud alarm sound. To confirm the alarm and stop the sound, simply press the button on the top of the device. This will block the alarm and allow you to ventilate smoke/heat.

In conclusion, the flashing red light on your smoke/heat sensor indicates different modes of operation, and understanding these modes will help you determine if there is a problem with the device.
